Early Peoples Symbols Cultural Revealation Project

Students in the U.S., Pakistan, Moldova, Belarus, and Egypt
did research to learn about Early Peoples and their culture
around the world. Students created PowerPoint presentations
and created artwork repesenting cultural symbols.
A Webquest was created to outline procedures and tasks
for the students and resources were also provided.
Students were instructed as follows:
Choose an early people from the Americas, Africa, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, or Europe from the chart below to research. Your research will include the following information:

Indigenous or Native Peoples Tribe or ancient people’s name and geographic location (map image)

Food gathering baskets, pots, nets (description and images)

Identify at least three animals hunted (description and images)

Tools and weapons (description and images)
-
Homes (description and images)
-
Clothing (description and images)
-
Crops planted (description and images)
-
Musical instruments (description and images)
-
Games/sports played (description and images)
-
Myths (brief description as it relates to culture)

Important animals (these could represent clans or be part of cultural myths or stories)

Identify tribal clan Names and organizational structure (describe how the people were organized)

Identify a cultural symbol that you could use to create artwork painting, seals, pottery, jewelry or a mask
Your project research will be documented in a PowerPoint presentation of at least 6-8 slides, poster board, or a project board. Completed artwork will be displayed at the school or local library for family, friends, and community members to view.
